The Primary Sports Medicine Service at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York seeks to add a dynamic physician at the assistant or associate level to anchor the pediatric sports medicine clinical program at the HSS Lerner Children’s Pavilion at our main campus on the Upper East Side. The sports medicine physician will work with closely with the faculty of Primary Sports Medicine and Pediatric Orthopaedics at HSS. The program will have access to: •Pediatric sports medicine surgical specialists, as well as other pediatric orthopedic surgical specialists, pediatric physiatry, and pediatric rheumatology. •Dedicated x-ray imaging suite and cast room •On site MRI suite •State of the art physical therapy and rehabilitation services Responsibilities: •Provide comprehensive sports medicine care to children and adolescents •Active role in the educational, academic, and administrative activities of the Primary Sports Medicine and Pediatrics Orthopedic Services. •Participation in community outreach, injury prevention and return to sports programs. •Participation in team and sport event coverage opportunities. •The development of research projects, and collaboration in research is encouraged. Primary Sports Medicine Overview The PSM Service is dedicated to treating injuries in athletes and active individuals of all levels, from elite to recreational. The members of the Service include nationally recognized leaders in clinical care and research. The PSM attending physicians have worked with professional, Olympic and collegiate teams including 7 New York area professional sports teams, as well as other national organizations such as the New York Road Runners. HSS is also designated as a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence. HSS and the PSM service offer the latest innovations in clinical care, performance, imaging and rehabilitation. Pediatric Orthopaedics at HSS The HSS Lerner Children’s Pavilion is named the best pediatric orthopedic hospital in the tri-state region, ranking among the top hospitals in the 2021-22 U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Children’s Hospitals” list. The Lerner Children’s Pavilion provides comprehensive orthopedic and musculoskeletal services. MD required Current Board Certification in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine-Pediatrics combined, or Emergency Medicine Completion of a Fellowship in Primary Sports Medicine Current CAQ in Sports Medicine, or CAQ eligible if completing fellowship training * Team physician experience preferred
