Trinity Health Grand Rapids (THGR) is seeking three (3) full-time Board Certified or Board Eligible Total Joint Orthopedic Surgeons (hip/knee or foot/ankle) to join our new orthopedic surgery team located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The physicians will join an employed orthopedic institute at Trinity Health Saint Mary's (THSM), a new and growing orthopedic framework in West Michigan. The selected physicians will join a team of two Orthopedic Trauma Surgeons and will be part of a growing team.
Additionally, the Orthopedic Department is searching for a Medical Director for the team that would include a 0.4 FTE medical directorship and a 0.6 clinical FTE.
THGR's orthopedic surgeons perform surgeries at Trinity Health Saint Mary's Hospital in downtown Grand Rapids and at our ASC at Trinity Health Southwest located in Byron Center, Michigan (11 miles distance from downtown). An investment opportunity exists in the Ambulatory Southwest Surgical Center for our orthopedic providers.
Surgeon duties include:
- Evaluating patients, reviewing, and interpreting patient health history, conducting a physical exam, and reviewing laboratory, x-ray, and other test reports to determine diagnosis.
- Developing and implementing treatment plan and providing education to patients.
- Performing orthopedic surgical procedures.
- Ability to take trauma call.
- Evaluating hospitalized patients during preop and postop period, monitoring progress, and releasing patient from hospital.
- Recognizing abnormal patient responses to treatment, surgery and/or medication and implementing corrective actions as appropriate.
- Documenting care and cases; Completing paperwork to assure payment for services rendered.
- Participating in call coverage as assigned.
- Maintaining knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related material, and by attending seminars, conferences and so forth.
- Serving as an engaged orthopedic team member at THSM, and working to build, support, and grow the orthopedic program.
Approximately 90% of the selected physician's time will be spent in direct patient care activities and approximately 10% of time will be spent in administrative duties inclusive of paperwork, equipment, committee meetings, etc.
New graduates and experienced physicians are encouraged to apply! Physicians must be Board Certified in their specialty within five years of completion of residency. A State of Michigan license, DEA license, ACLS and BLS certifications are required at time of employment.
