Overview

Tanana Valley Clinic (TVC) has provided state-of-the-art medical services to the Fairbanks Community and Interior Alaska for over 50 years. TVC is a 60-provider multi-specialty group. We have an excellent group of physicians and clinical staff, many of whom have been at TVC for over 20 years, a testament to our friendly work environment. Our passionate staff seek to make TVC the Medical Home for the people of the Interior of Alaska.

This position provides and leads medical care, including medical care teams, to manage assigned patient population, maintains timely and appropriate documentation of such care, and actively participates in medical staff duties. Participates in utilization management and care management processes to ensure high quality, cost effective delivery of services. Meets production standards. Partners with administration and staff to support strategic and operational plans. Works collaboratively toward needed improvements. Shares night, weekend, and/or holiday call duties as stated in the Employment Agreement.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Attends to patient needs through effective diagnosis, treatment, and documentation within area of assigned specialty. In an acute setting, this position provides medical care to the hospital patient population. This may include attending to patient needs through effective diagnosis, treatment and documentation. Provides guidance to the nursing staff and other members of the care team.
  • Meets quality measures in provision of medical care. Performs related administrative functions in the clinical setting. Meets professional standards governing such services in the appropriate medical specialty. Performs in accordance with the medical staff bylaws, the rules and regulations of the hospital and the medical staff, and the policies and procedures of clinic or practice.
  • Creates and maintains timely, appropriate and confidential documentation and coding of patient care to insure compliance with medical reporting standards and billing practices so as to meet applicable federal and state requirements and the organization's code of conduct.
  • If required by the Employment Agreement, actively participates in medical staff duties, attends hospital staff meetings, participates in peer reviews and evaluations, and supports and insures compliance with federal and state rules, regulations and accrediting body requirements. Meets CME (Continuing Medical Education) requirements for state licensure.
  • Meets production standards for clinic or practice while maintaining standards of care. Leads care team huddles to maximize efficiency of team in managing patients. Participates in identification, collection, and analysis of clinical, operational, and financial indicators to ensure effective use of resources. Promotes patient safety in all functions.
  • Serves as a committed partner to the organization's administration and staff to support strategic and operational plans. Establishes positive relationships with other physicians, administration, staff and the community and fosters collaborative efforts toward improvement. Serves on relevant health plan, Hospital, and Medical Staff committees to optimize relationships with the medical staff, payers, and peers.
  • Performs other duties as defined in the Employment Agreement.
  • Participates in scholarly activities to aid control/cure of diseases. May participate in investigation of new drugs and medications.
  • Qualifications

    Graduate of an approved school of medicine with licensure in state where he/she practices.

    Board Eligible/Board Certified by appropriate certifying board. Current DEA number.

    Must apply for and maintain Medical Staff membership and clinical privileges at appropriate facilities if required by Physician's employment agreement. Requires commitment to healthcare and concern for people in distress, critical listening skills and ability to communicate clearly, desire to work with all types of people and work as a team member and excellent interpersonal skills. Able to meet desired business outcomes while maintaining quality of care. Must be willing to update skills constantly.
