Job Description

Carilion Clinic Department of Bariatric Medicine has a new growth opportunity for a full time Obesity Medicine physician to join its growing medical weight loss program in Roanoke, Virginia. 

We are seeking an American Board of Obesity Medicine Board Certified Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician with clinical expertise in Bariatrics to join a growing and expanding Medical Weight Management Program at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a 763-bed teaching/tertiary care center with Level 1 Trauma. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong clinical practice with supportive leadership committed to the continued growth and development of this new service line with a cohesive multi-disciplinary team to provide all the resources needed to effectively manage medical weight loss patients.

Qualifications include:

  • American Board of Obesity Medicine Certification Preferred; successful ABOM certification required within 1 year of employment
  • ABMS/AOA-BC/BE in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Eligibility for unrestricted VA licensure and DEA
  • Prior outpatient experience
  • Prior experience with obesity management and weight loss treatment preferred.
  • Ability to manage complex medical patients with a high degree of medical co-morbidity
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team including Bariatric Surgery, Dietitians, Exercise Physiologists, and Psychologists
  • Highly motivated to promote the health of the patients and community
