Lifeguard PRN

JOB SUMMARY :

To maintain a safe aquatic environment for patients and members of the Dayani Center. To initiate a rescue or assist in a medical or physical emergency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assists in maintaining a safe aquatic environment that meets state and Davidson County Health Department standards.
  • Checks and adjusts pool chemicals to meet Metro Health Department standards
  • Logs chemicals in book, according to Metro Health Department standards
  • Makes sure that pool surface and pool deck are clean and clear of clutter.
  • Checks pool pump room twice during shift and reports any problems/concerns to AFO
  • Determines when pool should be closed due to weather/ maintenance situations
  • Keeps vigilant watch over pool area during shift, making sure all pool users enter and exit the pool safely
  • Assists patients using the lift to enter/exit the pool
  • Assist therapy/aquatics staff in setting up and replacing equipment, as necessary
  • Ensures that all pool users are logged in and that log-in book is up to date
  • Communicates with AFO to make sure that all shifts are covered in case of illness or scheduled vacation
  • Makes sure that all pool users follow Dayani policies and procedures while in the aquatics area
  • Interacts with members and patients and provides the best customer service possible.
  • Is well-informed of aquatics programs and classes and can answer questions relating to these areas
  • Makes sure that the natatorium area is well stocked with clean towels and that used towel bin is emptied regularly
  • Makes sure that pool temperature is at an optimal level for aquatic exercise, as set by the AFO
  • Records pool temperatures and chemical readings on the member blackboard in the natatorium

Vanderbilt Orthopaedics cares for patients with a variety of musculoskeletal injuries, chronic conditions, deformities or trauma. This clinic sees approximately 60,000 patients per year and has the following specialty areas: Trauma, Oncology, Foot & Ankle, Podiatry, Total Joint Reconstruction and Preservation, Spine, Sports Medicine, Hand, General and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

Our team includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, cast techs, medical assistants, athletic trainers, patient service specialists, managers and supervisors.
