The community you’ll be caring for:
Winter Park Memorial Hospital has continuously served the residents of
Winter Park and its surrounding communities for more than 50 years
Chartered in 1951, the hospital has grown from the visionary efforts of a
handful of Winter Park residents and community leaders to a 307-bed acute
care facility that is a model of community health and wellness
Over the years the hospital has continually expanded to meet the needs of
the community, adding an upscale obstetrics and Level II Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit at The Dr. P. Phillips Baby Place, cancer care at the AdventHealth
Cancer Institute, Winter Park, and state-of-the-art surgery, recovery, and
rehabilitation at the AdventHealth Orthopedic Institute
The role you’ll contribute:
The Certified Athletic Trainer – Outreach is a healthcare professional
specializing in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of injuries and
illnesses. Provides quality evidence-based athletic health services, as well
as develops and implements comprehensive health care programs. Builds and
maintains strategic relationships between physicians, their office staff,
Hospital administration, athletic trainers, athletic directors, athletes and
their parents. Fulfills the staff and medical requirement of contracts or
partnership agreements for assigned areas/events. Emphasizes off-site areas
and independent assessment and moves to action. Promotes and markets the
existing Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation product lines to physicians and
the community. Identifies and resolves issues timely that affect our medical
staff and the effective delivery of health care. Utilizes process improvement
in achieving the goals of the Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Department. May
supervise other Certified Athletic Trainers, Athletic Training students,
volunteers and interns.

Makes independent assessments related to injury/illness prevention and
wellness; performs clinical evaluation and diagnosis; provides emergency
care; designs and implements comprehensive rehabilitation and therapeutic
intervention programs using best evidence while providing athletic training
services for assigned team(s), area(s), events. Will be available outside of
normal working hours, as required by the athletic team’s schedule as
appropriate. May support multiple athletic teams/ programs and schedules
during the course of a week.
Maintains medical records that meet legal and regulatory standards. Utilizes
standard coding and reimbursement practices for documentation and billing.
Abides by federal, state, and local regulations for the proper storage,
transportation, dispensing, and documentation of prescribed and
over-the-counter medications. Collaborates with contract leadership to
define and execute policies and procedures specific to the contractual
agreement.
Participates in program and process changes as a result of performance
improvement activities. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by
the department.
Acts as a liaison between AHSMR and Orthopedics and other hospital staff,
physicians, and partners or contracted organizations/entities, in order to
facilitate the resolution of services or operational issues affecting
physicians, clients, or partners. Articulates and responds quickly to issues
identified by physicians, partners and clients as appropriate.
Markets the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and Orthopedic programs
within the hospital and community to physicians and ancillary medical
personnel as indicated. Communicates information to AH staff concerning
marketing and advertising efforts, competitor and consumer information,
marketing guidelines, partner/client needs and expectations. Understands
return on investment, including new services, repositioning of existing
services and legislative changes that can impact marketability. Implements
tracking mechanisms and provides data.
Utilizes knowledge of growth and development for assigned patient age
population. Evaluates for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills and
physiological norms of the patient. Interprets data relative to patient age.
Modifies approach and communication skills appropriate to the population
served, which may include: Pediatric (1 < 12 yrs), Adolescent (12 < 18 yrs),
Adult (18 < 65 yrs) and Geriatric (65 + yrs)
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
EDUCATION REQUIRED :
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field of study
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
:
Master’s degree in Athletic Training
Two to three years’ experience in Athletic Training
CERTIFICATION REQUIRED :
Current active State of Florida license as a Certified Athletic Trainer
Current CPR certification
