SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION: Provide oversight and support of financial administration, business operations and human resource administration.
Scope: Provide strategic direction in collaboration with senior leaders for the oversight of financial and business operations and human resources planning. Oversight over the Divisions of Adolescent Medicine, BMCP, Critical Care, Dental, DDBP, Emergency Medicine, General Pediatrics, Hospital Medicine, Mayerson Center, Neurology, Pathology, Psychiatry and Sports Medicine.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management
Ensure the management of short and long-term financial performance (operating and capital) of business lines and clinical divisions which encompass practice plan, hospital and research revenue/expenses. Develop long term financial forecast for the business unit. Ensure hospital and professional activity is coded and billed in a timely manner. Ensure financial compliance for each business line and division and for the Department/Medical Center. Identify, evaluate and make fiscally responsible recommendations regarding resource needs for the department, to include finances, materials, human resources, capital and space. Prepare, coordinate, evaluate and manage annual fiscal operating and capital equipment budgets for the area. Monitor outcomes and the costs of services in order to evaluate, modify, continue or discontinue programs. Support internal controls to safeguard the financial, information and human resources of Cincinnati Children's.
Revenue Cycle
Overall accountability for the Division's revenue cycle management, including optimizing revenue, ensuring complete and accurate physician and/or hospital billing and compliant coding, monitoring associated charge capture; creating competitive pricing, developing/expanding programs; effective denial management; and monthly revenue reporting
Operations
Partner with senior leader in setting operational and strategic goals for the department's business lines and divisions. Lead and support the business directors and managers in the implementation of the operating and strategic initiatives of their respective business lines and divisions. Ensure business directors and managers make the necessary connections outside of the Department to accomplish the operational goals for their respective divisions. Ensure business directors report, manage and act upon division-level dashboards, including setting and/or updating goals as necessary. Work with In Chief, Division Director or Vice President to manage the departmental scorecard consisting of clinical, research, education, work life, and financial goals. Ensure the Department interacts as appropriate/needed with other areas within the Medical Center to implement strategic goals of the Department and Medical Center. Ensure divisions are acting in the best interest of the Medical Center when creating new businesses and/or seeking opportunities to increase revenues and/or decrease expenses. Develop, implement and monitor Quality Assessment and Improvement controls.
Strategy
Collaborate with senior leadership in the development of the strategic plan for the department to achieve divisional and organizational and missions of the medical center. Work with senior leadership and management and key personal to develop these strategies and plans. Collaborate with outside partners including the University of Cincinnati to advance the mission of the medical center.
Human Resources Leadership
Direct the development and monitoring of an effective Divisional staffing and retention strategy, including hiring and terminating employees, workforce planning, succession planning. EServe as a resource for direct reports, providing regular feedback to them and supporting development of department managers and directors. Participate in the recruitment and selection of clinicians, staff and faculty for the department. Direct the overall management of the Division's administrative academic/faculty affairs, including partnering with CCRF to establish and maintain faculty records; direct the establishment and monitoring of faculty data and records according to defined national standards to maintain program accreditation; direct the faculty appointment process in collaboration with the University of Cincinnati; define budget allocations and maintain program expenses; partner with leadership to implement and/or support organizational leadership management of faculty conduct and performance expectations or programs; partner with leadership to foster the growth and development of physician and faculty leaders as knowledgeable, participative stakeholders in the division and medical center's vision, mission, strategic and operational objectives, and compliance requirements.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
Bachelor's degree in a related field
10+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
Preferred:
Master's degree in a related field
